Why Amelia Belts

A belt with holes gives you five choices. Your waist does not work in five sizes.

It changes between morning and evening. It changes with the meal you just ate, with the week, with the season, with the trousers. The hole that was right at 9am is wrong by 3pm, and the one next to it is too loose. So you sit through the afternoon slightly uncomfortable, or you spend the day pulling at your waistband.

How ours works instead

There are no holes. The inside of the strap carries a fine track, and the buckle grips that track anywhere along its length. Every adjustment is a quarter of an inch instead of an inch and a quarter.

Push the strap through, and it holds. Lift the small lever underneath, and it releases. That is the whole mechanism.

What that changes day to day

  • It fits the waist you have today. Not the one you had when you bought it.
  • It adjusts while you are wearing it. One hand, no unthreading.
  • The leather stays intact. Holes are where a belt cracks first. Without them, the strap wears evenly.
  • It fits at the start and at the end. Sized once, then trimmed to you.

The leather

Full-grain, with the surface left as it came rather than sanded and stamped with a false texture. It marks, softens and takes on the shape of how you wear it. That is the point.
